Jeffers Petroglyph site may be North America’s longest used ceremonial site. Best evidence is that engraving began at Jeffers over 7,000 years ago.
Jeffers is a 150 foot by 600 foot exposed shield of Sioux quartzite containing hundreds of individual images that have been engraved over thousands of years.
The site is administered by the Minnesota Historical Society and is open for visitation in the summer months. Plan your visit here.
