Ahu Tongariki, Rapa Nui

Ahu Tongariki is the largest collection of stone statues on Rapa Nui (Easter Island). It was destroyed by a 1960 tsunami and reconstructed in the 1990’s by a team from the University of Chile headed by Claudio Cristino and Patricia Vargas Casanova. Tongariki holds the largest statue ever erected on Rapa Nui.
